Give me such shows! Give me the streets of Manhattan!

– Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
The best gift is time well spent. I love exploring both the tried and true and the hip and new of New York and the cities I visit. Like any good New Yorker, I eat out often and have a number of favorite places ranging from hole-in-the-wall diners to the three Michelin starred crème de la crème. Craft cocktails are my drink of choice when going out and luckily we're living in a golden age of mixology. Know any good speakeasies? I'm a sucker for a bar with a password. And if we're staying in, let's get to know each other over a chilled bottle of Krug Champange or a bottle of your favorite wine.
As for the arts, I'm a lifelong dancer and ballet lover. New York is the dance capital of the world and attending the City Ballet or an ABT performance is always a thrill. The dancers' sensual grace and beauty and the majesty of an orchestra make me swoon. Broadway shows are another perk of city life and I go as often as possible. The jazzy musicals and comedies are my favorites. I love the magic of live theater.
Take me somewhere we’ve never been before, so that we can marvel together at the newness, or take me to a favorite haunt so that I can see it fresh through your eyes.

Gifts to bring

“You can always tell what kind of a person a man really thinks you are by the earrings he gives you.”

– Holly Golightly, Breakfast at Tiffany's
I love to be spoiled as much as I like to please. If you would like to set the mood, bringing a small surprise will do just that. You can always find an up-to-date list of some of the baubles, necessities, and gadgets I'm craving on my Amazon Wishlist. Books are particularly welcome. Lately I've been enjoying Bill Bryson, Robert Caro, Rachel Cusk, William Gibson, David Graeber, Michael Lewis, Phillip Pullman, Jacqueline Frances, and Kurt Vonnegut.
If you're a traditionalist and flowers are more your style, might I suggest Venus et Fleur so I can remember our tryst fondly for over a year. Or, potted plants always make a room more homey and The Sill would be happy to help you pick out a great one.
